JEE Main Paper 2 2027 (B.Arch and B.Planning)

If you want architecture or planning, Paper 2 is your exam. Here is the official 2027 pattern and how it is different from Paper 1.

Direct answer

Paper 2A (B.Arch) has 77 questions for 400 marks. Paper 2B (B.Planning) has 100 questions for 400 marks.

Both are 3 hours, in the 9 AM to 12 noon shift, during the same Session 1 and Session 2 windows as Paper 1. The B.Arch drawing test is on paper; everything else is on computer.

+4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one in the computer-based parts. The drawing test has no negative marking.

Timing

Duration and fee

Either paper alone: 3 hours, 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. B.Arch and B.Planning together: 3 hours 30 minutes. Taking Paper 1 and Paper 2 together costs the two-paper fee (₹2,000 for General male, ₹1,600 for female, ₹1,000 for SC/ST/PwD at centres in India).

Preparation

How to prepare

Maths is the same syllabus as Paper 1. If you are also writing Paper 1, you are already preparing for it.
Aptitude: practise visualising 3D objects, building awareness, and pattern questions daily for 30 minutes.
Drawing: sketch for 20 minutes every day. Perspective, proportion and shading improve only with practice.
Planning (2B): read about cities, maps, basic statistics and government schemes.
