You're 3 months behind — but that's fine
Class 11 started in April. By July, most students have covered basic units & dimensions, kinematics basics, mole concept, and some math. But most students at this stage are still confused about fundamentals. Your goal for July–September is to close this gap completely.
18 months is enough time
From July 2026 to May 2027, you have 18 months. That's 540 days. The JEE syllabus can be covered in 12 months of focused work. The remaining 6 months are for revision, mocks, and refinement. You have a buffer. Use it wisely.
The real danger is NOT the 3-month gap
The real danger is: procrastinating because you feel behind, falling further behind, and then panicking in January. The solution is simple: start today. Do 6 hours of focused work daily. In 3 months, you'll be ahead of most April starters.
Starting early in Class 11 gives you the biggest advantage
Month-by-Month Plan: July 2026 to May 2027
Phase 1 — Foundation (July to September 2026)
Goal: Complete all Class 11 high-weightage chapters from scratch.
- Physics: Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work-Energy-Power, Rotation, Gravitation
- Chemistry: Mole Concept, Chemical Bonding, s-block, p-block, Thermochemistry
- Mathematics: Quadratic Equations, Complex Numbers, Sequences & Series, Basics of Calculus
Hours per day: 6–7 hours (school hours taken — do 3 hr coaching + 3 hr self study minimum)
Books: HC Verma Vol 1, NCERT Chemistry Class 11, NCERT + Cengage Math
Phase 2 — Class 11 Completion + Class 12 Start (October to December 2026)
Goal: Finish remaining Class 11 + start Class 12 simultaneously.
- Physics: Thermodynamics, Waves, SHM, Fluids
- Chemistry: Equilibrium, Ionic Equilibrium, Redox
- Mathematics: Trigonometry, Straight Lines, Circles, Coordinate Geometry
- + Start Class 12: Current Electricity (Physics), Electrochemistry (Chem), Integration (Math)
Hours: 7–8 hours/day
First mock test: Take your first full JEE Main mock in November. Score doesn't matter. The process of taking it matters.
Phase 3 — Class 12 Focus + Boards Prep Balance (January to March 2027)
Goal: Survive the hardest phase. JEE Main Session 1 is January 21.
- January 2027: 4 mocks per week minimum. Aim for 80+ percentile in Session 1 as a trial.
- February 2027: Board prep dominant. (NCERT Chemistry is 60% of JEE Chem anyway)
- March 2027: Session 2 prep + boards simultaneously.
If you hit 95+ percentile in Session 1, you're ahead of the curve.
Phase 4 — JEE Advanced Prep (April–May 2027)
Goal: 45 days of intense Advanced preparation.
- Focus on two-paper stamina, partial marking strategies, and multi-concept problems.
- Start HOD (Higher Order Difficulty) problems by December 2026 at least for Math.
- Don't leave Advanced as an afterthought. It has a completely different difficulty level.
Note: You need 3+ months of proper Advanced prep ideally. Which is why everything above needs to be done on schedule.

HC Verma Vol 1+2 (must have, non-negotiable). DC Pandey (optional for extra practice). Do NOT buy 5 books. Master HC Verma cover to cover. Solve every single problem, including the objective questions.
Chemistry
NCERT (mandatory for Organic + Inorganic — read every line, even the "did you know" boxes). OP Tandon Physical Chemistry for numericals. That's it. Two books for Chemistry.
Mathematics
NCERT + RD Sharma (foundation). Cengage / SL Loney (advanced after basics are solid). PYQ practice: Last 10 years JEE Main PYQs from free PDFs. Don't pay for PYQ books.
