Marks to percentile if you are estimating from a mock, percentile to rank if you already have the scorecard, and percentile to marks if you are working backwards from a target college.
JEE Main Marks vs Percentile 2026
Enter your expected or actual JEE Main marks and get a percentile band, an All India Rank band and a category rank in one shot. No signup, no lead form, no PDF gate.
Marks are not percentile, and percentile is not rank
Marks are your raw score out of 300. Percentile is your relative position among everyone who appeared in your session, normalised across sessions. Rank is derived from percentile after all sessions are merged and tie-breaking rules are applied. So a 150-mark paper can be 97.6 percentile in a hard session and something different in a normal one, and the same percentile gives a slightly different rank each year because the candidate pool changes. Use this page to get a reliable planning band, then verify the official scorecard.
How to use this tool
The Open category compares against the full candidate pool, while OBC-NCL, SC, ST and EWS compare against their own category ranks. Getting this wrong is the single most common reason a prediction feels wrong.
The tool gives you a band because no public model can be exact. A 40-mark gap is not a decision; a 2,000-rank gap is.
Use the published NTA cut-off row for your category to answer one binary question: are you eligible for JEE Advanced this cycle?
Write the band into your error log or planner and get back to preparation. Do not refresh predictor pages every hour.
How to read the numbers honestly
Published cut-offs, not vibes
The qualifying cut-off rows used here are the values NTA published with the result for B.E./B.Tech, including the number of candidates who qualified in each category.
Two sessions, two difficulty levels
JEE Main is held in multiple shifts with different difficulty, so percentile is computed per session and then merged. That is why raw marks alone never fix a percentile.
A band is not a promise
No third-party page has access to the official normalisation formula or the final candidate pool. Anything on the internet that offers a single exact rank is guessing too.
What to do next
If you are preparing: convert your latest mock marks here, then use the Score Goal Planner to work out how many more marks you need for the next percentile band.
If the result is out: check the qualifying row for your category, then open the college predictor with your rank to see your Safe, Target, Reach and Dream lanes.
If you are stuck between two numbers: use the category rank, not the All India Rank, when you compare against category-wise college cut-offs.
JEE Main Marks vs Percentile 2026 — FAQs
How many marks is 99 percentile in JEE Main 2026?
In recent sessions around 165 to 175 marks has been needed for roughly 99 percentile, but the number moves with paper difficulty. Use the calculator above for a band rather than a fixed mark target.
Is 100 marks a good score in JEE Main?
100 marks is a workable platform, not a strong score. In recent sessions it has sat near the low 90s percentile, which clears the SC and ST qualifying cut-off comfortably but usually misses the Open cut-off.
Can I calculate exact JEE Main rank from marks?
No. Marks give you a percentile band, percentile gives you an estimated rank band, and the exact rank is published only by NTA. Treat every third-party number, including this one, as a planning estimate.
Why do two websites show different percentiles for the same marks?
Because they use different anchor papers, different candidate-pool assumptions, or a simple linear formula instead of real shift normalisation. The spread between them is the honest measure of uncertainty.
Does the category change my percentile?
No. Percentile is the same for everyone. What changes is the cut-off you are compared against and the category rank that follows from your All India Rank.
Is this calculator free and does it need a login?
It is free, runs entirely in your browser, and never asks for a phone number, email or login. Your inputs stay on your device.
